all the weird channel numbers were filled by the mythtv-setup. I would
_never_ generate such crazy channel numbers. I wonder why the channels
are not assigned incrementally from number 1 (like in normal receivers).

I wonder how it can match - don't say that if I enter "1" Myth matches
it with all channels starting with "1" like "10", or "100", or "1000"? I
can't believe it.

IMHO it should always be an exact match. Unless there is some usability
feature that I don't get because I am used to a few channels only.

np, I'm not pushing you - I was just curious whether my configuration
was the problem (and thus the trac entry is invalid) or if it's a bug
that will eventually be fixed and will make it transparent for my WAF to
use the Myth (no need to mess with 'L' when all channels are available
by the channel number).
