[mythtv] Mythtranscode issues

I'm seeing poor performance during recording. I also noticed that there 
are many many mythtranscode processes running (or, one with lots of 
threads) and there are plenty of messages in the backend log saying 
"Waited 4 seconds for data to become available, waiting again...". I 
found where this is logged in RingBuffer.cpp but I'm not sure about the 
cause besides the obvious point that the mutex isn't getting unlocked 
fast enough.

It makes sense that mythtranscode should be running as I have real-time 
commercial flagging enabled but I don't see why there are so many 
processes/threads active.

The machine is running the current debian package, not sure what svn 
version that is. The only other data point is that I did a dist upgrade 
at the same time as upgrading myth. I wonder if there's some sort of 
library mismatch. I'm going to try building packages from source to see 
if that helps.
