But Issac has said many times that it can't be a plugin so I doubt
he would accept any solution that was.

Well DVB support at least doesn't actually need that much work I don't
think - ask Martin Ebourne as he's been working on it. It's mostly a
question of persuading the recorder and the frontend not to worry if
there is no video stream and then changing the channel scanner so it
doesn't discard audio only channels.

I have no idea about DAB or FM cards - that will be a question of
creating a new recorder class for the new card type I guess. It is
mostly new code rather than changes to existing code so the risk of
breaking existing things is limited.
