[mythtv] OSX backend obstacles?

Would someone be able to describe the technical hurdles in the way of
a MacOSX backend?  I read somewhere that the problem was that "MacOS
doesn't support video capture," but I've successfully captured from my
Motorola DCT-6200 on MacOS, so I'm wondering if, with that particular
hardware, it's likely to "just work" (or nearly so).  If not, I'd like
to hear what the known issues are.  I might be willing to attempt the
port myself.
