The procedure to create a patch is
svn co/update themodule
cd themodule
[make changes]
svn diff > my.patch

Find matching ticket at http://cvs.mythtv.org/trac
Or create one describing the problem if there isn't one there.
Attach patch to ticket, explaining how it solves the problem.
