[mythtv] mythbackend deleted all my shows

I am currently using 0.16 and I have been using myth since 0.7 and my
problem started around 0.15.

What is happening is the mythbackend see that it needs more space and
deletes a .nuv but the backend still has the file open so the space is
not recovered.   And then it just keeps deleting programs till there is
no shows left to delete.

Here is some data to backup what I think:
In mythbackend's /proc/??????/fd directory there were 637 files that
showed open but deleted(here are a few):

Then if I stop the backend I get 115Gbytes of disk spaced freed up.

When the Olympics were on some of the files were over 20G each and the
backend would delete some of the files as I was watching them and case
the same type of problem.    

I would like to debug this if some one could point me in the right
direction.

I have one backend/frontend server and 2 other frontend computers.
