[mythtv] Assertion failed in xvmccommon.c:12 when paused live tv restarted

I have compiled as of 12/12/04 the latest CVS of mythtv.  If I compile 
with XvMC enabled,  then the output of the CNN's ticker is very smooth.  
However, when I  pause live TV and then press pause again to resume 
watching I often get [mmpegvideo_xvmc @ 0xb33950]Past Frame is a B frame 
in findPastSurface
mythtfronend:xvmccommon.c:12: findPastSurface: Assertion 
'3!=last->pict_type' failed
Aborted

I have a Hauppage PVR-250 and a chaintech FX5200 video card.

I can go back to removing the XvMC but sometimes get flicker in the CNN 
ticker.

When starting live TVwith XvMC enabled it sometimes starts with a frozen 
screen, pressing escape and then rentering clears it.

Otherwise XvMC works really well,  I can compile on the machine and live 
tv runs smoothly.
Without this, other activity always causes stuttery output on live TV

Has anyone else seen and/or found a fix to the pause issue with XvMC 
enabled.

On another note what are the benefits/drawbacks of enabling openGL?
