I guess different people want different things... seems like some are
interested in a server-driven stream like you describe, which is more like a
broadcast.  Others would like the ability to have the backend more or less
just 'serve' the files/playlists like it does for TV, and give each player
the ability to play something different.

I think both would be great additions to Myth, though the second scenario is
probably easier in the short-term as the remote file transfer framework is
already there.
