Before I get too terribly deep into this...
Are we planning to support thinks like softcam?

I know there will be Diseqc support (which is currently makin me nuts...)
and I am working on at least getting a picture over this today. I have a 3
lnb (soon to be 4) in the following configuration:
dual Dishnet Dish500 pointing at 110 and 119, Single Dishnet pointing at
149(for hdtv). Next comes a 90cm Fortec Star with a universal lnb and an
Stab HH Diseq motor. I have been scrounging around trying to find the codes
for the Diseqc commands I need, but these are surely going to have to go
into a config file somewhere, they are a GIANT pain in the ass to make work
in VDR and I have officially given up. I am going to just concentrate all
my time on MythTV now even though I know it's way pre-alpha especially in
NA.

If we get a system that is actually configurable by a non-rocket scientist
then we will have a major piece of application software. I will probably
make some extensions to do most of the setup, I have been looking at the
format of the satcodx SDX files and think it is the best way to get current
transponder info, but I am not absolutely sure everything required for
MythTV is there. There should be a way for us to just select the birds we
want, assign them to a diseqc port and then scan for channels.

Everything works (somewhat) in a windows system so the hardware is fine,
getting it to run in linux has been a real challenge, but will be worth the
effort when it functions in MythTV! I have all the sources for making this
function in VDR and I think I understand it all, so porting the
functionality into MythTV won't take too long. If you are the lead on this
Kenneth we need to talk alot to make this all work.
