[mythtv] Speech enabled MythTV

Thanks for all your input!

I've ordered a TV tuner to allow testing, and I'm going to install
mythtv to get a really good feel of the interface. It would be ideal if
the additions I have planned could be integrated in a way so that mythtv
checks during start-up for a speech synthesizer, and doesn't bother
speaking if one is not found.

My final goal is to have a "controlled" environment for a mythtv
distribution. I don't know exactly if the code is ready for this -- ie
the guide sync works pretty reliably, etc. However, I hope that it will
be in the future. If I can control the hardware being used for mythtv
by using a hardware-software "bundle" and also manage to create an
automatic "disk dupe" installation CD (or CD set) to automatically
format the drive and dump complete filesystems, I think this could be a
reality. Most of the changes that are going on seem to be either
reliability issues with new hardware or requests for new features, so
hopefully this version would at least provide a start. In the future, I
could probably find a couple of vendors willing to ship "talking" mythtv
boxes, preinstalled, with rescue CD, for less than $500, especially if
hardware prices keep shooting down.

Other issues such as IP address, dialup, etc. will probably resolve
themselves along the way.
