Well I know for my TV at least I only get those weird stretching options
on an NTSC feed. Anything above 480i and it won't let me do those
options, which means I'm stuck with black bars on the sides for any 4:3
digital feeds.
Personally I think we (as in I'll start taking a look at it as soon as
my pchdtv is running properly) should look at extending the w key
functionality to cycle through as many scenarios as we think are likely.

Hello Isaac,

part of the

though.
It should be enough with a setting to tell myth if the user has a 16:9
or 4:3.
All that needs to be done is to add black bars (top and bottom) if
there's a
real anamorphic 16:9 broadcast so that 4:3 users get the right ratio
(letterbox
format).
Other than that, there's the strange issue with the small picture
with black
frames all around, wich could be taken care of as well.
Any stretch at the edges, not in the center thingie should not be
needed, that's
built into all widescreen TV's (should be at least).
(The other issue that's taken care of in myth at the moment is a rare
case wich
is easily avoided with a corectly set-up cable box.)
