[mythtv] connection timed out to mythbackend

I obtained cvs of mythtv and xmltv last night.  Some features are
working properly: fetching of scheldule, recording shows.  However what
isn't working for me is playback of recorded shows and livetv.  In the
releases of mythtv segfaults happened, and wiht the cvs i get a
connection timed out.  I know recording is poroperly funcitoning because
the tumbnail for recordings shows the video.  Any ideas?
