[mythtv] performance

I have a slower CPU/ memory and I can pause and play TV on both
tuners.&nbsp; With both tuners recording, my system starts to top out. I
also encode at 640 x 480 so it looks like the main difference is the
hard drive. 423MB of my memory is in use for cached files meaning that
79MB is used for the programs to run, so I'm not sure that more memory
will help. Whichever way you decide to go, let us know how it works out.<br>

drive is pretty old, I did some tweaking with hdparm and 23 Mb was

1700,&nbsp; 512MB PC133 ram, 2 WinTV tuner cards, SBLive, Ensoniq, 60GB IBM
HD. <br>

hdparam -t returns:<br>
&nbsp;Timing buffered disk <a href="reads:%A0">reads:&nbsp;</a> 64 MB in&nbsp; 1.65
seconds = 38.79 MB/sec (same results multiple times)<br>

Top returns 44% idle time, with a load averages of 0.52.<br>
