Comment:

 I'm going to need "mythbackend -v channel,record" logs, attach the full
 log from startup, bzip2 -9 it if you have to.

 I can answer both of these questions with the log, but FYI I'd like to
 know:
   Do you have EIT data collection enabled?
   Is the system recording when the CPU jumps?

 It looks like either we are reading a lot of data and processing it, in
 which case may not really be a problem since the backend continues to
 function properly. or a select/poll is failing and we are constantly
 reading small dribs and drabs of data from the DVB devices instead of
 reasonable chunks, in which case we need to find out why this is happening
 and correct the problem.
