Hi All,
In the past I had an older system running as my remote frontend, It
consisted of Linux Mint running on an Intel Core 2 E7650, so a very old
basic processor, I also had a nVidia GT750 video card.
This was swapped out with a Dell OptiPlex 3050 Micro Desktop PC i5 7500T 8GB
RAM 256GB SSD. No additional video hadware.
My issue is on the newer machine, the tv channels have very different volume
levels, for example, for channel 10 I need to have the av receiver volume at
around 40 or higher to hear anything, but when I move to channel 7, I need
to reduce that down to about 25 to save our ears.
This did not occur on the old system, yes, the volumes were slightly
different but we did not need to adjust the volume between channels changes
The sound set up on both systems is comparable, ie runs though alsa mixer on
HDMI to the receiver.
I realise the channels will encode/broadcast differently (compression etc),
even between commercials and regular content, but it was fine on the
previous system.
Does using VAAPI vs VDPAU make a difference to the audio signal as well as
the video?
I have searched for mythtv audio normalisation but cannot seem to find any
results at all. I have also looked around the audio configuration settings,
but cannot find anything that helps. Of course I could be missing something
vital.
Happy to provide any further information that is required, to assist in
trouble shooting.
The new system is all about energy saving, being able to shut it down when
not being used, rather than the age of the system.
Thanks for any help that can be provided.
Andrew
