[mythtv-users] remote frontend connect issues and solutions?

I encounter this issue every time I rebuild my remote backend which occurs
about every 2 years. Today I installed Debian 13 XFCE4 on my backend and
got it working locally in about 1 hour using Mythtv v36. But it took 2
more hours to get the other PCs in the house to talk to the remote
backend. Here's what I found out.

It takes more than a correct bind-address statement the my mariadb cnf file.

At present Debian 13 works with mysql from 11.8.6-MariaDB. I used to just
make sure that the bind-address= * statement that took affect was in the
right file.

But that was not enough in May 2026. I used:
sudo grep --recursive bind-address /etc/mysql
to find any file with a bind-address statement and make sure they did not
override the bind-address= * I needed.

But I also needed a file:
mariadb.conf.d/80-mythconverg.cnf

[mysqld]
binlog-ignore-db = mythconverg

Once I added this new file and restarted mariadb.service my remote PCs
could run mythfrontend.

I have no clue what this fixed it but it's working now. Luckily, 90% of my
viewing of the remote backend is via Leanfront on a Google TV streaming
device.
