yes but you will have to run ldconfig to get the ne libs recognized.

I have not tried it but you should be able to run part of it. The main 
script build_package calls three other scripts. You should be able to 
run the config.sh, build.sh and install.sh to install into your test 
directory. Then test.sh will run MythTV from your test directory. The 
last script, package.sh, will not work on a non-debian system.
