That's really dated.  Here's what I do now:
Install EOS on x86_64 PC
Create mythtv user with /home/mythtv as home and UID/GID 1006
Create mythtv Storage Directories
Install mariadb
Install mythtv using the AUR  yay -S mythtv-git
I have a before and after script to setup stuff like the
mythtv-backend.service and xmltv, and mythtv-database-backup.service/timer
and mythfilldatabase timer/service
If you are interested I could put a new mythtv forum post with all that
included?
