Thanks for the update.

We have known (and seen) for quite some
time that MySQL and MariaDB were diverging
causing issues(*).

While not perfect, since MythTV does not
(currently?) use triggers, it would seem to
me that it probably will not hurt to just test
for 4031 (along with the other timeout/gone
values) and attempt the reconnect (with
a comment that 4031 is problematic due
to divergence?).

At some point, it may be necessary to
do something like a "Select version();"
after the initial connect and remember
which vendor type the app is talking to
in order to perform vendor specific
checks.
