fwiw: i made a simple script to get the listings using sdjson and then
run mythfilldatabase. i set it up as a timer/service under
systemctl/systemd. i run it once a day and its really simple. my
mythfilldatabase looks like this:

mythfilldatabase --file --only-update-guide --sourceid 3 --xmlfile
cable.xml

my grab listings command looks like this:
 
tv_grab_zz_sdjson --days 12 --config-file cable.conf --output cable.xml

i had already made the conf files and leave them in user mythtv's home
directory. and run script that runs one command after the other as user
mythtv. i do same for 2 other sources. i have not had any problems
doing it this way.
