Wow...you've got that right. I just got burned by this on my Gentoo
backend with the update of  dev-db/mysql-connector-c from 8.0.23-r1 to
8.0.25. Until I read everything around this issue, I assumed that
minor upgrade couldn't possibly be related.

For reasons I won't get into, I'm still running MythTV 29.1, and the
patch for this would need major rework for that, so for now I just
downgraded dev-db/mysql-connector-c.

But yea...a non-backward compatible API change in a minor version
bump?? Only a developer with no clue as to what an "API" is would pull
that crap.

You know...some time back I switched all my systems from MySQL to
MariaDB and couldn't be happier with it. This makes me wish they'd
fork the client code as well, so we can get the idiots at Oracle out
of the picture entirely....maybe this inexcusable bullshit wouldn't
occur.
