No, it is intended that way.
This does not explain, why MythTV is calling that script.

On the frontend, what does
Setup --> Artwork and Metadata Sources
display for
 - Movie Metadata Source
 - Television Metadata Source
 - Game Metadata Source

There should be no entry for giantbomb.py and the entry for "Game Metadata
Source" should be empty, too.

Please post the output of the mysql query
