When I have tried leanfront, the quality of linear playback has been
really good with some programmes - mainly non-interlaced h264 with AAC -
but interlaced video hangs while the audio plays on. And IIRC
multichannel audio may kill playback.
It seems that broadcasters in the UK often mix interlaced and
progressive content, which can give the viewing experience an extra
frisson of unpredictability.
I have tried re-encoding to progressive, and it worked, but it was a
very slow cpu-intensive process.
