[mythtv-users] Playback stutters, but only after 10-15 minutes

I am using the mac OSX 0.29-fixes frontend from the link on the wiki page:
https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/MythTV_on_Mac_OS_X

I recently upgraded the OS on my main frontend from 10.14 to 10.15 to
access the appleTV app. (Prior to upgrading my main frontend machine, I
had done a quick test of the above frontend on a laptop running 10.15 just
to verify functionality.)

Following the upgrade, I found that playback would begin to stutter, but
only after about 10-15 minutes of uninterrupted playback. The stuttering
disappears upon any interaction, even just pressing the "I" key to bring up
the basic timeline display.
With -v playback, the only indications of the behavior in the log are the
usual:
"Video is XX.XXXX frames behind audio (too slow), dropping frame to catch
up."
I tried -v all, but with a message literally every ~8 microseconds, it's
needle in haystack.

The frontend is a recent i5 mac mini, and the CPU usage remains below 50%
even during the stuttering behavior. The behavior happens regardless of
decoder (standard or VDA), renderer (OpenGL or openGL-lite) or interlacer
(literally any or none at all).

Looking for any suggestions of what to try, or any more informed choices
for verbose logging that might help me track down what's happening...
