that file exists on my system too. ../android-ndk/my-android-toolchain64/bin/aarch64-linux-android-gcc
took another look at my setup and recreated my folder structure. Followed through the instructions again but still no go.

checking if we have a C++ compiler... no
configure: error: C++ compiler g++ does not work or no compiler found
