I never could get audio out of the motherboard at the same time as audio
out of HDMI. I could switch between them but I could not get them at the
same time. I finally got rid of the motherboard audio out option as there
were times when the system would switch to that mode spontaneously and the
TV sound would go off. Now I use an HDMI audio extractor box. Works great.
The optical audio goes to the preamp and the HDMI audio goes to the TV so
we can switch between them with volume controls. Best of luck.
