IPTV tuners work a bit differently. When you create them, they
default to 2 multirec devices each. Do not change that. With an IPTV
tuner, the multirec capability is only used to handle the case where
two programmes are to be recorded back-to-back on the same channel.
How it works is a "physical" IPTV tuner is tuned to receive from a
specific URL for a channel, and the two "virtual" multirec tuners can
record from the same data stream being received from that URL. When
the post roll period on the first recording starts to overlap the pre
roll period of the second recording, the second multirec tuner starts
recording. When the post roll of the first recording finishes, the
first multirec tuner shuts down, leaving only the second multirec
tuner recording from the URL.

In all other cases, a different URL is being recorded from so a
different IPTV tuner is used. You just configure more of them on the
same source, so they can be used when needed. The only constraints on
how many you set up are the bandwidth of your Internet connection and
how many simultaneous recordings your MythTV box can write to disk at
the same time.
