One problem I encountered a while ago that makes mythbackend respond
very slowly is where a drive or network mount point is not responding.
In the case of a drive, a partition may need a full "fsck -f" done on
it and while it appears to mount, it does not work and every time
mythbackend tries to use it, it causes the thread that is doing that
access to hang for ages.  Similarly with network mount points - if the
partition at the other end needs fsck -f, or if the network connection
is failing for some reason, you get a mythbackend thread doing long
timeouts whenever it accesses the mount point.
