I tried it on my FireTV 4K Stick. The video playback looked very good, and
I had no problems with 1080i MPEG2 (I have to do software decoding to do
1080i on mythfrontend). That seems like quite a big advantage to get good
playback on more devices without the Mythfrontend configuration tweaking.
The part I wasn’t crazy about is the skip ahead/back. Mythfrontend is
lightning fast in this regard - nothing else I’ve tried comes close.
Leanfront was on par with other video players, but relative to
mythfrontend is slow.
I guess I’m too happy with the mythfrontend client (Thanks, Peter) to be
looking for alternatives. But, if the performance could rival mythfrontend
it would be interesting. I only use the recording playback, so a leaner
app that did that well would be great.
