Dear Mythizens,
My cable provider (Telenet in Belgium) has announced that they will
switch off the analogue TV signal at some point, and that they have
already made the free-to-air channels available as DVB-C without encryption.
It's true - they have. I bought a 4-tuner HDHR and can view the channels
in question using vlc (as spawned by the View button in HD Homerun
Config). The Media Information window in vlc tells me the following:
- Stream 0
Type: Video
Original ID: 3401
Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10)(h264)
Resolution: 720x578
Frame rate: 25
Decoded format: Planar 4:2:0 YUV
- Stream 1
Type: Audio
Original ID: 3402
Codec: MPEG audio layer 1/2(mpga)
Language: Dutch
Channels: Stereo
Sample rate: 48000 Hz
Bitrate: 128 kbit/s
(Streams 2 and 3 omitted: teletext subtitles)
I configured this device in mythtv-setup, managed to scan the channels
etc, but when I try to view them it says that it can't achieve a lock (I
set the timer to 10s which is well above the amount of time it takes for
HD Homerun Config to lock onto the signal).
Any hints?
Many thanks, Jan
