Thanks for coming back Ian !!!

Just a thought, as it is always the same channels that are not recording
and producing the error. (Other channels work)
Can it be a problem with a multiplex
<https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Record_multiple_channels_from_one_multiplex>
group?

*Here the answers:*

What distro and version are you using?
miro at mythbox:~$ cat /etc/*release*
DISTRIB_ID=*Ubuntu*
DISTRIB_RELEASE=*18.04*
DISTRIB_CODENAME=*bionic*
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="*Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS*"

What version of CGI.pm? You can either find that in the CGI.pm script or
from the distro CGI package version.
Is the below the Version you are looking for?

miro at mythbox:~$ locate CGI.pm
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/perl5/5.26/FCGI.pm
/usr/share/perl5/CGI.pm
/usr/share/perl5/HTTP/Server/Simple/CGI.pm
miro at mythbox:~$
miro at mythbox:~$ head /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/perl5/5.26/FCGI.pm
package FCGI;
use strict;

BEGIN {
    our $*VERSION = '0.78*';

    require XSLoader;
    XSLoader::load(__PACKAGE__, $VERSION);
}

miro at mythbox:~$
