I can't find it now, but not so long ago, somebody posted a link to a
manufacturer's paper that said their consumer level hard drives are not
specified to be used more than one per case/enclosure and that they are not
specified for 24/7 use.
The advice was that you should be looking to purchase professional level
hard drives to get the best possible life for 24/7 operation in enclosures
with multiple hard drives.
