Okay, I tried this again and while F9, F10, F11 work for sound control
in MFE, the Dell keyboard media keys freeze MFE. I tried Alt-Tab and it
cycled around the open apps, but when I was on MFE I had a dialog that
said MFE had quit responding and I could Force Quit or continue. Forcing
Quit allowed it to restart in a few seconds.

I googled the media keys and how to disable them, but have not found
those "fixes" to work.

So I can control the volume with F9-11, I'd worry that keyboard pressing
could crash MFE??!!
