I have never heard of nodm before, so I can not help with that.  But
it should be possible to work around this problem by switching to
using another display manager.  The standard setup for MythTV on
Ubuntu uses an XFCE4 desktop and lightdm, and with that combination
you can have it automatically log in and start mythfrontend.  I
believe automatic login also works using XFCE4 and gdm, but if you
want x11vnc to work use lightdm.
