I recently moved some of my tuners downstairs, attaching them to a
machine that had previously only been used as a frontend. Obviously that
machine thereby also became a slave backend.
Ever since I did that the frontend does not recover from reboots of the
master backend: the reboot occurs while the frontend is at rest at the
watch recordings screen. It first displays the (expected) error message
that the backend is offline. But shortly thereafter (while the master
backend server is still rebooting) it says that the backend is online
again. I then wait for the master backend to actually fully reboot and
attempt to play a recording. This fails, saying that the file cannot be
found. I can only recover from this situation by also restarting the
frontend.
Could it be that when the master backend goes offline the frontend goes
in search of another backend, finds the one running on localhost and
then never switches back to the master when it is back? Because
obviously the slave backend only has access to recordings it has made
itself, not the files that physically reside on the master backend.
Thanks, Jan
