I can get the 'Use Internal volume control’ to work, but the sound is like it coming from a well.

I do not have a mythtv:ALSA device. and all other  ALSA selections product the static/noise. aplay -L shows CARD=ALSA, DEV=1 as IEC958/HDMI, but it also produces noise/static only
