[mythtv-users] mythfrontend on Raspberry 3 B+ audio issues.

I’m doing some testing on my RP3 B+. My production RP3 B+ is very stable, but it’s LibreELEC and Kodi. I miss using Mythfrontend for certain functions.

My current problem is on certain recordings there is no audio. The audio is there in the recording and you can hear it on Kodi and mythfrontend on x86 platform with linux. I could not find /var/log/mythtv/mythfrontend.log so can’t check for errors.

I’m running Stretch 9 update 2018-10-09.
gpu mem is 320.
I have the performance set for scaling_governor
I have the MPG2 license.
So I can also run Kodi on this system, they had me set the GL driver to G3 Legacy i.e. Broadcom driver.
Kodi wanted the Camera interface enabled to pickup some video codecs

in Mythfrontend:
audio device is OpenMAX:hdmi
Video Playback profile: OpenMAX Normal

So far I’ve noticed the missing audio on all recording on my PBS station. I’ll start testing more widely.

BTW, I’ve found a great way to test how smooth the video is. It’s the news and weather crawl at the bottom of the screen. On Kodi it’s very smooth just like my Core i7 PC on Mythfrontend. But on RP3 mythfrontend the crawl slows then jumps, i.e. jerky. It’s easier to spot this way than watching a program.
