Finally managed to work it out - there was a corrupted line in my transcoding_profile.xml file.

I'd still like to be able to run the docker container, though, so any help will still be gratefully received.

Regards,

Dave.

Subject: [mythtv-users] Help with MythPodcaster

HI,

I've been having problems with MythPodcaster since upgrading to ubuntu 18.04, I'm hoping that someone here can help me.

I've had to downgrade tomcat to tomcat 8.0.52 and I'm using oracle-java7.

The web interface loads ok, but whenever MythPodcaster attempts to transcode a recording, I get this error message:

2018-05-28 15:40:31,670 ERROR [MythPodcasterTranscodingThread-1] transcode.FeedFileAccessorImpl (FeedFileAccessorImpl.java:385) - Error while transcoding, setting link to null
java.lang.ClassCastException: net.urlgrey.mythpodcaster.xml.GenericTranscoderConfigurationItem cannot be cast to net.urlgrey.mythpodcaster.xml.FFMpegTranscoderConfigurationItem
        at net.urlgrey.mythpodcaster.transcode.FFMpegTranscoderImpl.transcode(FFMpegTranscoderImpl.java:56)
        at net.urlgrey.mythpodcaster.transcode.TranscodingControllerImpl.encodeOnePass(TranscodingControllerImpl.java:172)
        at net.urlgrey.mythpodcaster.transcode.TranscodingControllerImpl.transcode(TranscodingControllerImpl.java:55)
        at net.urlgrey.mythpodcaster.transcode.FeedFileAccessorImpl.addProgramToFeed(FeedFileAccessorImpl.java:323)
        at net.urlgrey.mythpodcaster.transcode.IndividualFeedTranscodeTaskImpl.run(IndividualFeedTranscodeTaskImpl.java:149)
        at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.runWorker(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:1145)
        at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:615)
        at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:745)

My first thought was that it is a file access error, but the .rss .html &.png files are all created ok, so MythPodcaster can definitely write to the output directory.

I've also tried setting up mythpodcaster in docker, but I cannot get the web interface to work in docker. In many ways this would be my preferred option, since it would be unaffected by any OS upgrades.

Any help, gratefully received.

Regards,

Dave.
