Hi Mark,

I created a new user juste for mythtv. But then I deleted the 2nd user account.
# netstat -peanut | grep 6543
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:6543 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 999 34310 2491/myth
backend
tcp6 0 0 fe80::9cf8:2c64:b9:6543 :::* LISTEN 999 34312 2491/myth
backend
tcp6 0 0 ::1:6543 :::* LISTEN 999 34311 2491/myth
backend
tcp6 0 0 ::1:6543 ::1:46944 ESTABLISHED 999 32433 2491/myth
backend
tcp6 0 0 ::1:46942 ::1:6543 ESTABLISHED 1000 34368 2503/myth
frontend
tcp6 0 0 ::1:6543 ::1:46942 ESTABLISHED 999 34369 2491/myth
backend
tcp6 0 0 ::1:47012 ::1:6543 TIME_WAIT 0 0 -
tcp6 0 0 ::1:46944 ::1:6543 ESTABLISHED 1000 32432 2503/myth
frontend
tcp6 0 0 ::1:47014 ::1:6543 TIME_WAIT 0 0 -

My backend and frontend are on the same machine, so the IP address is localhost.
Bye
Klaus
That shows an instance currently running. I would shutdown all backends, confirm that by:
ps aux | grep myth
netstat -peanut | grep 6543
Then restart the backend / try to play LiveTV / recording / etc / whatever is still causing problems then check the backend log file for errors (and post to the list so others can check too).
