Thanks very much Richard and others!

I updated to the testing version and spent half an hour testing 
everything I can think of.  I could not find a fault.  Scheduled 
recordings are working, live TV is working, I can play back other 
media.  (I don't have any DRM TV content like some people so couldn't 
test that)


For anyone else having this issue, note that you need not install the 
entire mythtv meta-package if you didn't use it to install mythtv in the 
first place.
$ sudo dnf --enablerepo rpmfusion-free-updates-testing update mythtv-backend
( note no '=' ) worked well for me and correctly pulled in other updates 
from the testing repo.
