[mythtv-users] first remote button press is ignored

Well, in that case... might it be that mythfrontend actually is the
culprit? If ircat, using the same lircrc, actually delivers the first
button press which otherwise is dropped then lirc actually seems OK to me.

To what extent can input events in mythfrontend be logged?
