With the next release of MythTV (v30) scheduled for release early in
the New Year, now is the perfect time to update our translations to
help provide the best end-user experience for users all around the
world.

We currently carry translations (in varying states of completion) for
*31* languages; you can see the current state of your preferred
language here:

  http://www.insidethex.co.uk/mythtv/translation-status/master/

As you can see, several popular languages are well maintained, with
active developers. However, if your preferred language is showing
lower levels of completion (or is not listed), perhaps you could help
out by providing new translations?

Full details of our current translation teams and clear steps on how
to contribute new translations can be found at:

  https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Translation

We run a dedicated mailing list for translators, which you can join at:

  http://www.mythtv.org/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-translators/

What next?
==========

If you've made it this far and want to contribute - great!

Here are some essential next steps:

i) read the Translation wiki page to understand what's involved
ii) contact your language's translation team to coordinate your efforts
iii) join the translators mailing list

Please discuss your new/ongoing translation work on the translators'
mailing list, and mail me directly if you have any problems.

Pull requests should be made against the official MythTV repository on
Github (https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv), and should be referenced in
a tracking ticket (details given on wiki page). Alternatively, feel
free to add your patches to a new Translation ticket (again, see wiki
page)

Once reviewed, PRs/patches will be merged into the codebase and become
part of the new release, and you'll have helped to improve MythTV!

Thanks,
Nick
