I'll second this.  Unless you have lots of disposable time on your hand,
and enjoy troubleshooting things.

Just keep in mind that the EOL for Ubuntu 14.04 is
April 2019.  So until that point, the "if it ain't broke" mantra is a
no-brainer.  However after that point if your system is accessible from
the internet or by untrusted users in any way, you'll probably want to
investigate either:
- upgrading the system to a supported OS version.
- restricting access to the system from the internet.

If attackers can't get to the system, then the risks of running an
unsupported OS in an appliance-like case like MythTV are not that high.
