[mythtv-users] systemd suddenly won't start backend

I reboot last night having had my Debian Jessie system up for some 200
days and the backend refuses to start.

systemctl status mythtv-backend.service gives me:

repeated too quickly, refusing to start.

and looking in the backend log I see:

If I run the backend from a terminal using
    su -c mythtv mythbackend
everything works fine

Nothing has been updated as far as I know, I can only assume some mysql
setting has changed due to a regular upgrade/update.

Anyone any ideas?
