[mythtv-users] uVerse and Channel Changing

Hi,
IU have been severely limited on my internet options where I live
(basically AT&T bonded vDSL2 only) until recently. They just dropped in
FttH, so I have gigabit now, and they offered such a great deal, we
switched from DirecTV to uVerse as well (same company regardless)..
Before I go down the path I have decided upon, I was wondring (my searches
turn up empty) what most people were doing to change channels on uVerse
receivers. It looks like their internal API is not published and unknown
since it is encrypted between receivers, so IR blasting is (close to) my
only option. I have very strong memories of IR blasting using the blasting
port of my HDPVR (and my HDHRs are too far away) to change channels, so I
am looking for alternatives.
I think I have settled on using Cepstral TTS to talk to Alexa to switch my
channels, but have not done the little bit of work yet. Has anyone else
gone down this route yet? It seems to be very doable and Alexa give errors
back, etc to ensure the channels change. I already have an EchoDot sitting
in the box, so that's my plan anyhow.
If I could get the master signing key for the certs somehow off their
devices, I could decrpty their communication between their apps and
receivers and get the commands, but I have not tried all of that as of yet.
TiA,
Greg
