This was a upnp-related jump into a different thread - but I'll add a
couple of comments.

I'm not up-to-date with the Samsung story, but there have been other
tweaks to the upnp code: for example, treatment dependent on the
'transcoded' flag, or resetting the container from 'MPEG2-TS' to
'MPEG2-PS'. Most have been for upnp-spec compliance (the spec seems to
be accessible now) but some hardwares might still need 'features' that
will break others.

I have three now-cheap core2duo boxes running almost-current master in 3
OSes; one has a current low-end nVidia card, GP710 driving hdmi. I find
upnp playback is noticeably more 'solid' in rapid HD panning scenes than
I have yet seen from VDPAU, and if I wanted to watch a large(ish)-screen
'performance', without skipping or speed-up, I would choose upnp. And I
can get that from them all.
