Obviously, this bug needs fixing.  But one simple solution to avoid it
is to pre-program a recording for the game.  I have never seen this
problem when playing a recording that is still in progress.  Or you
could try the option that I think is somewhere in the menu for a
LiveTV recording that converts it to a normal recording that will stop
when the EPG says the game ends.
