It seems mythtv doesnt like empty UDP packets which VLC is tolerant off.
After inserting the following rule, mythtv works fine.

iptables  -t raw -A PREROUTING -p udp -m length --length 28 -j DROP

Is there any way to incorporate this into mythtv?
