One problem with changing asound.conf is that you need to be root to 
change it. You don't need root to create and change "~/.asoundrc", so 
you don't need to use sudo or su to edit the file. And please make note 
of the "/". It means the ~, tilde refers to your $HOME directory, 
whereas ~.asoundrc could be a file with a leading tilde in any directory.
