Hi Mark,

Hmm.  I see what you mean about the Wikipedia article.

I may have confused the VAAPI driver for VDPAU-supporting hardware 
(libva-vdpau-driver for NVIDIA) with the VDPAU driver for 
VAAPI-supporting hardware (libvdpau-va-gl for Intel)!

According to the Arch wiki 
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Hardware_video_acceleration#Installing_VDPAU 
says:
"Intel GMA 4500 series and newer GPUs are supported by libvdpau-va-gl 
(see #Installing VA-API)."


Having said that, the libvdpau-va-gl driver may not be well maintained: 
https://github.com/i-rinat/libvdpau-va-gl

I guess I'll stick with VAAPI, fall back to software or even use Kodi as 
a frontend (it seems to have good VAAPI support and wasn't using VDPAU 
as I first suspected).
